HCOS™ Standards

Turning Human-Centered Principles Into Practice

The Human-Centered Operating Systems™ Standards Library translates the HCOS™ Foundations into practical guidance for people, organizations, and technology.

Each standard provides a consistent approach to designing healthier systems, supporting wiser decisions, protecting human dignity, and helping people and technology work together responsibly.

The standards are organized into two levels:

Core Standards

Core Standards apply throughout the HCOS™ ecosystem. They establish shared guidance for reasoning, evidence, privacy, stewardship, decision support, AI instruments, and continuous learning.

Discipline Standards

Discipline Standards apply HCOS™ principles within specific areas, including:

  • Human Systems

  • Professional Identity

  • Human-Centered AI

  • Healthcare

  • Leadership

  • Organizational Systems

  • Education

  • Research

  • Creative Communication
